The Salahis promote polo tournament on public buses

Less than a week after Tareq and Michaele Salahi’s limo was ticketed outside the White House during a state dinner, the infamous couple is back in traffic. Only this time on a public bus.

Advertisements for the Salahis’ charity polo match, the America’s Cup of Polo, are being splashed on the sides of Metro buses.

The couple posted a photo of the ads on Facebook on Sunday and, according to a spokesman for the transit company, the America’s Cup of Polo paid $5,000 for 25 ads that will be running until June 12.

The polo tournament will take place June 11-12 on the National Mall, according to the America’s Cup of Polo website.

Perhaps not surprisingly, given the Salahis’ history of controversial business dealings, there are still a number of unresolved issues surrounding the event: chief among them who, exactly, will compete.

The website says a U.S. team will play a team from India, but the Indian Embassy has denied that the country plans to send its polo players to Washington for the event.

The bus ads don’t mention who will be competing; they just encourage people to buy tickets.

In case you’re wondering, the price of a weekend of polo — $130 for the early-bird special — is approximately 100 times the cost of a bus ride.
