It's been five years since Rihanna dropped her last album but she’s been work, work, work, work, workin’ nonstop since then to become the wealthiest female musician in the world, according to Forbes, which estimates her net worth at $1.7 billion.
Second only to Oprah Winfrey as the richest female entertainer, much of Rihanna’s wealth — about $1.4 billion of it — comes from her 50-percent stake in Fenty Beauty, according to Forbes, as well as her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, which is worth an estimated $270 million.
“A lot of women felt there were no lines out there that catered to their skin tone. It was light, medium, medium dark, dark,” Shannon Coyne, cofounder of consumer products consultancy Bluestock Advisors, told Forbes. “We all know that’s not reality. She was one of the first brands that came out and said, ‘I want to speak to all of those different people.’”
Both through her music and her contributions to the beauty industry, Rihanna did speak to an incredibly diverse audience that was ready to pay her what they owe her — and she took it straight to the bank.
