Former President Trump said Monday protesters alleging they were beaten by his bodyguards in a 2015 protest outside of Trump Tower had “no one to blame but themselves.”

The 45th president sat for a four-hour deposition in which he was asked about accusations made by a group of protesters, some of whom wore Ku Klux Klan hoods, who were protesting Trump’s comments regarding immigrants from Mexico while he was a presidential candidate, Insider reported.

The protesters allege that Trump’s security detail beat them during the incident on Sept. 3, 2015, and five demonstrators filed the suit against Trump, the Trump organization and members of Trump’s security team on Sept. 9, 2015.

Trump wrote in a statement posted to Twitter on Monday that the lawsuit should never have been filed as the plaintiffs “have no one to blame but themselves.”

"Rather than protest peacefully, the plaintiffs intentionally sought to rile up a crowd by blocking the entrance to Trump Tower on 5th Avenue, in the middle of the day, wearing Klu Klux Klan [sic] robes and hoods," he added.

"After years of litigation, I was pleased to have had the opportunity to tell my side of this ridiculous story — Just one more example of baseless harassment of your favorite President," Trump concluded.

New York state Supreme Court Justice Doris Gonzalez ordered Trump to sit for the deposition after he avoided providing testimony as president citing immunity, according to Insider
