Pol. Col. Pongjak Preechakarunpong, chief of the Pak Kret police station, told The Associated Press (AP) on Wednesday that the woman is facing charges of attempted murder and property destruction.

Thai media reported that the woman was allegedly angry that she did not receive an announcement before she saw the painters outside of her room on Oct. 12, according to The AP.

The condo manager told Pattaya Today that the residents had been informed painters would be working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One of the painters said he and two other crew members lowered themselves from the 31st floor to repair a crack. Then he felt the rope become heavier and looked down to see a person on the 21th floor cutting the rope.

The painters called for help while the third member of their team continued to support them on the top floor. Eventually, resident’s on the 26th floor helped them inside.

The 34-year-old woman initially denied the report before she and her attorney appeared at the police station Wednesday, where she confessed after forensics linked her prints to the rope.

But the woman, who faces up to 20 years in prison, claims she did not intend to kill the painters, Ponjak said.
