NBA star LeBron James, apparently, really likes wine.

James has been quoted talking about wine during press conferences, posts photos of wine on social media and allegedly uses wine to settle bets, according to Bleacher Report.

The Los Angeles Laker normally eats a pretty healthy diet, according to a 2016 interview with Business InsiderDuring the interview, James admitted that before a game, he eats chicken breast and some pasta since “the carbs help because you’re going out and playing lots of minutes.”

James will also sometimes just opt for a lighter meal like a salad and some vegetables and snack on a protein shake and some fruit right before game time, according to the interview.

But he doesn’t skip out on wine. James once told ESPN that he drinks wine almost every day and is an avid believer in its reported health benefits.

“I’ve heard it’s good for the heart. Listen, I’m playing the best basketball of my life, and I’m drinking wine pretty much every day. Whatever it is, I’ll take it,” he told ESPN.

Some research suggests that drinking red wine in moderation is good for the heart, according to Healthline. And although the link between red wine and fewer heart attacks is not completely understood, some researchers believe that part of the reason might have to do with the antioxidants in red wine that might increase levels of “good” cholesterol and help stop cholesterol buildup, according to the Mayo Clinic’s website.

“Doctors don’t recommend that you start drinking alcohol for heart benefits, especially if you have a family history of addiction,” the website reads. “But if you already enjoy a glass of red wine with your evening meal, drinking it in moderation appears to help your heart."
