  • Actors Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan made surprise appearances Sunday at Prada’s menswear show at Milan Fashion Week.
  • The pair, who opened and closed the show, joined eight other Hollywood actors in walking the Prada runway.
  • Goldblum has been a longtime fan of Prada’s colorful pieces, modeling them off the runway during television appearances and red carpet events.

Actors Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan surprised guests at Prada’s menswear show at Milan Fashion Week over the weekend, walking the runway in long, dramatic black overcoats.

Goldblum, 69, and MacLachlan, 62, were among eight other Hollywood actors to walk in the show, which took a futuristic approach to traditional workwear.

They were chosen by designers to represent “real men, recognized figures,” Prada said in show notes, The Associated Press reported.

MacLachlan, who opened the show, called the opportunity to walk “an honor.”

Prada, in a statement posted to Instagram, said the show, titled “Body of Work,” was inspired by the idea of “taking theater and cinema as mirrors of reality.”

“Actors are interpreters of reality, employed to echo truth through their portrayals,” the luxury fashion house wrote in a separate post. “Here, everyday reality is valorized, its signs and signifiers exchanged with those of elegance and sophistication.”

Audience members were seated in olive green theater chairs, which were organized in an orthogonal grid to leave space for models to walk between them, Prada said. Spotlights followed the models to emphasize the “uncanny relationship between the theatrical and technological atmospheres.”

The show was punctuated by Goldblum, who at first acted surprised to find himself on a runway at all.

The actor, who will reappear in the “Jurassic” franchise this summer, is known for sporting colorful Prada pieces off the runway.

“There’s a certain irreverence that [Goldblum and Prada] both have,” Andrew Vottero, Goldblum’s stylist told GQ in 2019.

Vottero said the partnership “does seem like a perfect match: Jeff is super handsome, super classic, but also an intellectual, and also a little bit adventurous, and I feel like he has that spirit of constantly moving forward, and being excited and enthusiastic about the future. And I see that all in Prada as well.”
