  • An exclusive NFT auction is giving people the chance to bid on exclusive memorabilia from The Beatles.
  • That includes Paul McCartney’s original notes from the song “Hey Jude,” along with clothing worn by John Lennon, as well as guitars he gifted to his son, Julian Lennon.
  • The winning bidder will not be given the physical item, instead they will be given an exclusive audio narration done by Julian.

Fans of The Beatles can get access to exclusive memorabilia, including Paul McCartney’s original notes for the song “Hey Jude,” through an auction of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

Julian Lennon, the son of The Beatles’ John Lennon, announced an auction of exclusive Beatles memorabilia this week. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The White Feather Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Julian Lennon that brings awareness to a variety of different causes and issues around the world.

All items in the auction are being sold as NFTs, however, the winning bidder will not be given the physical item, but instead they will be given an exclusive audio narration done by Julian, becoming the sole owner in shared Lennon history.

Currently there are six items up for auction, including Paul McCartney’s original notes for the song “Hey Jude,” John Lennon’s Afghan coat, a black cape worn by John Lennon in the movie “The Beatles Help!” and three Gibson guitars gifted to Julian Lennon from his father.

“I’ve been collecting these personal items for about 30 years, and I was getting a bit fed up with them being locked away in a vault, where I’ve had to keep them because I didn’t want them to get damaged,” said Julian Lennon to Variety.

Julian Lennon went on to say that the auction is a unique way to continue his father’s legacy and show people the collection that he has. He indicated that there could be even more items potentially revealed in the coming years.

NFTs are digital tokens that establish enhanced privacy and exclusive ownership of digital content. They are considered collectibles and can become extremely valuable. They have mostly been used to sell artwork and digital content.

Registration and bidding for The Beatles’ memorabilia opened on Jan. 24 and closing in-lot orders starts Feb. 7.
