A New Orleans 911 operator is wanted by the authorities for allegedly hanging up on callers to the emergency line.

Authorities allege that Precious Stephens, 25, repeatedly hung up on citizens who called the emergency line without even attempting to receive the emergency information or relaying the calls to other dispatchers. Stephens has been fired from her job working for the Orleans Parish Communication District.

“(The district) has and will continue to cooperate with the … investigation into this matter and dedicated to providing any and all assistance to aid in (the) efforts,” Orleans Parish Communication District said in a statement to Nola.com.

The New Orleans Police Department’s Third District obtained an arrest warrant for Stephens on Thursday “on charges of malfeasance in office and interfering with an emergency communication.”

Stephens remains at-large at this time.
