As the cream cheese shortage continues to loom, one of the main companies known for producing it is offering a deal: reimbursement for shoppers who skip any desserts involving cream cheese.

Kraft, the maker of the well-known Philadelphia cream cheese, is offering 18,000 shoppers a chance at a $20 reimbursement if they turn to holiday desserts that don’t involve cream cheese, such as cheesecake, saying, “If you can’t spread Philly, spread the feeling.”

A website set up by the company will allow shoppers, beginning noon Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, to reserve a limited dessert through a unique one-time link. Then, through Christmas Eve, shoppers can buy any dessert and keep the dated receipt to use their one-time link between Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 to enter for a chance to win a $20 digital reimbursement.

The decision comes amid a cream cheese shortage affecting the United States, especially New York. According to a report by The New York Times, national supply chain issues have left shops with barely enough cream cheese to last a few days, and the companies that create the base used for the cream cheese, such as Kraft Heinz Philadelphia, are struggling to meet the demand.

“We continue to see elevated and sustained demand across a number of categories where we compete,” a spokesperson for Philadelphia told The New York Times, adding, “As more people continue to eat breakfast at home and use cream cheese as an ingredient in easy desserts, we expect to see this trend continue.”
