Montana authorities have a search underway for a 23-year-old hiker who has been missing since Thursday.

Tatum Morrell, an avid hiker, set out for a hike on West Fork Trailhead about six days ago. She was planning to hike to five peaks in the area and had pitched an orange and gray tent near Shadow Lake, according to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.

Her last communication was to her mother at about 8 p.m. Thursday using a device called InReach.

The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Red Lodge Search and Rescue are undertaking the search for Morrell.

Anyone with information or who may have seen her are asked to contact the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office at 406-446-1234.
