A ninth member of the New York Yankees organization has tested positive for COVID-19 despite being vaccinated, manager Aaron Boone said Sunday.

Boone said the unidentified staff member will be in isolation in Baltimore while the Yankees take on the Orioles, CNN reported

"We're just doing the best we can with it," Boone said. "Fortunately, he's another one that feels good. So we'll just continue to try and be vigilant and handle it as best we can."

Shortstop Gleyber Torres, pitching coach Matt Blake, third base coach Phil Nevin, first base coach Reggie Willits and five staff members have tested positive after receiving their vaccines. Each received the Johnson & Johnson vaccination, according to CNN.

“COVID-19 vaccines are effective and are a critical tool to bring the pandemic under control. However, no vaccines are 100% effective at preventing illness in vaccinated people,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website. “There will be a small percentage of fully vaccinated people who still get sick, are hospitalized, or die from COVID-19.”

Roughly 47 percent of U.S. adults have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, while 37 percent have been fully vaccinated, according to CDC data

CDC director Rochelle Walensky told ABC’s Martha Raddatz on Sunday that seven of the eight cases were asymptomatic and were discovered during "routine testing that generally doesn't happen in many other populations."

"This is the vaccine working. This means that you didn't get infected -- or you didn't get a severe infection," Walensky added. "You didn't require hospitalization. You didn't require death, and most likely those people were not transmitting to other people."
