In support of President Biden's initiative to get 70 percent of adults vaccinated by Independence Day, Instacart, the grocery delivery company, is offering a free snack contest, appropriately called the Get Vaxxed For Snacks sweepstakes.
As part of the company's COVID-19 Shopper Vaccine Stipend Program, Get Vaxxed For Snacks sweepstakes gives customers nationwide a chance to win a summer of free snacks, with 200 winners being selected on July 1.
The program has paid out $2 million to support its customers getting vaccinated so far, according to Instacart.
“Instacart is proud to join the White House’s effort to encourage more vaccinations in the U.S. so we can all gather safely around the table again and celebrate summertime with friends and family,” said Apoorva Mehta, Founder & CEO of Instacart.
“Over the last year, Instacart has been deeply committed to supporting the health and safety of customers, shoppers and employees throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and today is another important step we’re taking to encourage the communities we serve to get vaccinated. With the Get Vaxxed For Snacks program, we hope to offer customers one more reason to get vaccinated so we can collectively bring this pandemic to an end,” Mehta added.
To apply for the sweepstakes, customers have to sign in on the official website before June 30 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
At least 200 winners will each receive an Instacart gift card worth $500.
The service is available in most places, with 85 percent of U.S. households and 80 percent of Canadian households using the delivery service.
Instacart is partnered with more than 600 national, regional and local retailers that deliver from nearly 55,000 stores across more than 5,500 cities in North America, according to the company.
Since the pandemic, Instacart has been booming in business thanks to its convenience of online grocery orders being similar to and easy as Uber, Business Insider reported. The company's annual revenue for 2020 was $1.5 billion.
Instacart gets 20 percent of its profit from ads, promoting items like Häagen-Dazs ice cream and Ketel One Vodka that people search for via the app.
The revenue from ads will be close to $1 billion by 2022.
