Butterball issued a recall on Wednesday for more than 14,000 lbs. of ground turkey citing possible plastic contamination, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Based in Mount Olive, N.C., Butterball “is recalling approximately 14,107 pounds of ground turkey products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically blue plastic.”

The recall is for 2.5-lb. “farm to family BUTTERBALL all natural Ground Turkey” trays and 3-lb. “Kroger GROUND TURKEY” trays both produced on Sept. 28.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service began receiving customer complaints of bits of blue plastic being found in the trays, though no customer injuries or illnesses have been reported at this time.
