Report: Emanuel to seek big-money donations for Obama

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will seek campaign donations from big donors for President Obama, according to a report Wednesday in The Washington Post.

Emanuel will drop his honorific chairmanship of the Obama campaign to focus on raising money from big-dollar donors, the report said.

{mosads}Obama’s campaign has trailed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in fundraising for the last several months and has been worried all year about how super-PACs aligned with the GOP could outspend the president and his allies.

Bringing in Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff, underlines those concerns.

An Obama campaign aide referred calls on the Emanuel decision to his office. But the aide added: “He’s been clear that he wants to do everything he can to get the president reelected. I think that was very clear in his speech last night. And from our perspective, he made the decision that he felt was the best one with the reelection effort.”
