Rebuilding the Federal Workforce

The federal workforce is losing senior subject matter experts with institutional knowledge. With a new administration on its way, how can the government restore this policy expertise to ensure efficiency and to take on the challenges of governing?

According to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), of the 2.1 million current federal civilian employees, more than one-third are eligible for retirement in the next five years, and only six percent are under 30.

How do we shape a new era of public service and bring back interest in government jobs?  How do we foster a culture that promotes government service as an attractive career option? And how can the administration build consensus to re-equip agencies with funds, resources and staff?
