Democratic strategist says Trump would be reelected if election was today

A Democratic strategist predicted on Thursday that President TrumpDonald John TrumpO'Rourke: Trump driving global, U.S. economy into recession Manchin: Trump has 'golden opportunity' on gun reforms Objections to Trump's new immigration rule wildly exaggerated MORE would be reelected if the general election were held today. 

"I think if the election were held today, that the president would, unfortunately, get reelected," Jennifer Holdsworth, a senior political strategist at MWWPR, told Hill.TV. 

But she continued, "I think the economic numbers are a misnomer of sorts. I think Wall Street is doing very well. I don't think Main Street is doing very well." 

The president has touted economic growth and dropping unemployment under his administration in hopes that the economic message will hit home for voters. 

However, polling shows the president may have an uphill climb in critical swing states he won in 2016.
