"This is a wing of the party that is willing to play hardball for those priorities. And it's a lesson to progressive Democrats that the only way to get to the negotiating table, to really have your demands taken seriously on something like the minimum wage is to use the power that you actually have," Sirota said.

"These conservative Democrats understand that the power they have is in their votes," he continued.
