Political analyst Bill Schneider said in an interview that aired Tuesday on "What America's Thinking" that President TrumpDonald John TrumpTrump nominates ambassador to Turkey Trump heads to Mar-a-Lago after signing bill to avert shutdown CNN, MSNBC to air ad turned down by Fox over Nazi imagery MORE's base would "go to war" for him if he was ever impeached.

"If you want to see the Trump base solidify and go to war, talk about impeachment," Schneider told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking."

"That will get them solidly behind Donald Trump, just as it happened with Democrats in 1998 when [former President] Clinton was impeached," he continued.

"That will happen to Trump if they impeach him," Schneider said, referring to Trump's Republican base. "It will rally his base."

Schneider's comments come as some progressive Democratic members of the House have floated the idea of impeachment.
