Political analyst Bill Schneider said in an interview that aired Tuesday on "What America's Thinking" that President TrumpDonald John TrumpJulián Castro: It's time for House Democrats to 'do something' about Trump Warren: Congress is 'complicit' with Trump 'by failing to act' Sanders to join teachers, auto workers striking in Midwest MORE's base would "go to war" for him if he was ever impeached.

"If you want to see the Trump base solidify and go to war, talk about impeachment," Schneider told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking."

"That will get them solidly behind Donald Trump, just as it happened with Democrats in 1998 when [former President] Clinton was impeached," he continued.

"That will happen to Trump if they impeach him," Schneider said, referring to Trump's Republican base. "It will rally his base."

Schneider's comments come as some progressive Democratic members of the House have floated the idea of impeachment.
