Trump has reportedly decided to nominate Tillerson to be secretary of State, according to multiple reports.
The president-elect met with Tillerson on Saturday at Trump Tower, and an announcement could come at any time.
In recent days, Tillerson has reportedly jumped to the front of the pack of candidates for the post.
Trump declined to say whether he had formally selected Tillerson for the post on Sunday morning, but did praise the Exxon CEO during an interview on "Fox News Sunday."
He called Tillerson a "world-class player" and said he has "tremendous respect" for him. He added that his company is "unbelievably managed."
"And to me, a great advantage is he knows many of the players, and he knows them well," Trump said during the interview. "He does massive deals in Russia. He does massive deals for the company — not for himself — for the company."
