The Jan. 11 press conference will be held in New York, Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump has caught flak for not holding a formal press conference in months to answer questions from reporters. He has opted since the election to largely communicate through social media, as well as a handful of media interviews.

Next week's news conference will come a little more than a week before Trump is sworn in on Jan. 20 in Washington. He previously postponed plans for a press conference last month to discuss his business.
