President Trump is planning to play a round of golf with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Florida this week.

“We’re going to have a round of golf, which is a great thing,” Trump said in an interview Sunday with Westwood One Sports Radio, according to a transcript posted by the White House.

“That’s the one thing about golf — you get to know somebody better on a golf course than you will over lunch.”

Trump said during the interview with Westwood One that the two will then go to Palm Beach for a round of golf.

When asked whether Abe is a good golfer or if he would have a bet on the game, the president said the Japanese prime minister “loves the game.”

“We’re going to have a lot of fun,” Trump said.

“It won’t matter. I’ll just make sure he’s my partner.”
Japan is planning to invest in U.S. infrastructure as part of a broader policy framework that Abe is expected to pitch to Trump when they meet this week.
The Washington summit between the two comes after Trump’s vow to make massive infrastructure spending a top priority.
Trump has been highly critical of China, Japan’s biggest strategic rival.
