Scarborough pans ‘chaotic’ Trump press conference

“It was one of the most chaotic, rambling press conferences anybody has ever seen,” the “Morning Joe" host said. "[Trump] has absolutely nobody inside his White House that will walk up to him and tell him the truth.

“He lives in an alternative reality. He says things that are verifiably false. He just talks, and he makes up things, and he repeats them until he believes them.”

Scarborough admitted, however, Trump’s appearance Thursday had likely reenergized his most dedicated supporters.

“He’s playing to his crowd. He’s going to have his 37, 40 percent hard-core support. They weren’t laughing at Donald Trump. They were laughing at the media. That would have been a really funny hour of television or so if he weren’t president of the United States.”

Trump denounced reports that his administration is in turmoil during a freewheeling, at times combative press conference at the White House, his first full one as president.

“I turn on the TV, open the newspapers and I see stories of chaos,” he said. "Chaos. Yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine.”

“To be honest, I inherited a mess,” Trump added."It’s a mess. At home and abroad, a mess.”

Trump’s administration has faced a difficult week, with national security adviser Michael Flynn resigning Monday amid controversy over his communications with Russia.

The president’s nominee for Labor secretary, Andrew Puzder, also withdrew his nomination amid reports of Republican objections to his confirmation.
