Trump to host Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago

President Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping next month at Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, the White House announced. 

The meeting, which will be held April 6-7, will be the first between the two leaders. It follows Trump’s sharp criticism of China during his presidential campaign. 

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will also be in attendance, according to reports

{mosads}Tillerson reportedly told Xi during a meeting in China that Trump places a “very high value” on maintaining communications with the Chinese president.

“The two leaders will discuss global, regional, and bilateral issues of mutual concern,” the White House said in a statement on Thursday announcing the visit.
