Preet Bharara, a former U.S. attorney who was fired by President Trump, said Tuesday that “everyone” should be troubled by the president’s decision to fire FBI Directory James Comey.

Bharara, who oversaw top legal cases for the Southern District of New York, echoed Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-N.C.) tweet about concerns of the “timing and the reasoning” for the director’s dismissal.

{mosads}Bharara was one of 46 attorneys Trump asked to resign after taking office. His dismissal also came as a surprise after the attorney said Trump asked him to remain in his post shortly after the election.

Trump’s decision on Comey has led to mixed feelings. Some lawmakers say a new face at the FBI could lead to a fresh start, following a few controversies that have trailed Comey since the election. Others, however, say the president could be trying to stand in the way of the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election, with some calling his dismissal of Comey “Nixonian.”
