A former aide to Hilary Clinton on Thursday mocked President Trump after he misspelled the word "counsel" in a tweet.

"He really has trouble with the word 'counsel,'" Teddy Goff, a former digital strategist for the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, tweeted.

Trump's spalling gaffe came in a Thursday tweet responding to the appointment of a special counsel to investigate any ties between his campaign and Russia.

"With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special councel appointed!" the president tweeted on Thursday.

Trump's comments come a day after the Department of Justice appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to investigate Russia's meddling in the U.S. presidential election.

After the announcement Wednesday, Trump voiced confidence that a federal investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia would find no collusion.
“As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know — there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity,” Trump said in a statement.
