President Trump during remarks in Israel on Monday said Israeli and Palestinian children should be able to grow up in safety.
"Young Israeli and Palestinian children deserve to grow up in safety and to follow their dreams free from the violence that has destroyed so many lives," Trump said during remarks with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
"The United States and Israel can also bring safety and greater prosperity to our people through stronger ties of trade and commerce," he added.
Trump also said the two countries have a strong foundation to "build an even closer trading relationship that benefits both of our countries."
Trump arrived in Israel on Monday, the second stop during his first foreign trip.
During comments he made after arriving, he sought to reaffirm the "unbreakable bond" between the U.S. and Israel.
"We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and to its people," Trump said in his earlier remarks.
"Defeating terrorism and creating a future of harmony, prosperity and peace. But we can only get there working together. There is no other way."
