President Trump went after the "Fake News Media" early Tuesday, accusing the press of publishing false stories.

"The Fake News Media has never been so wrong or so dirty," Trump tweeted Tuesday.

"Purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate. Sad!"

Trump often rails on the media, accusing reporters of printing incorrect stories related to his administration. He frequently refers to stories or networks as "fake news" and often dismisses reports that cite anonymous sources.

Sessions's testimony follows former FBI Director James Comey's highly anticipated appearance before the same panel last week.

Comey said during a closed-door meeting with the Senate Intelligence Committee last week that Sessions may have had an undisclosed third meeting with the Russian ambassador in 2016 during the presidential campaign.

The former FBI director hedged his comments, but congressional investigators were reportedly already looking into whether Sessions and Sergey Kislyak met on the sidelines of a foreign policy speech Trump gave in April 2016.
