Trump points to job numbers, strong economy after media attacks

President Trump early Monday touted his administration's successes after a series of recent tweets in which he escalated his attacks on the media.

"At some point the Fake News will be forced to discuss our great jobs numbers, strong economy, success with ISIS, the border & so much else!" Trump tweeted.

The president in recent days has gone after the media, specifically targeting CNN and the co-hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

On Sunday, Trump posted a video to Twitter showing him at a wrestling match tackling a person with the CNN logo superimposed over their face. The tweet sparked uproar, with some journalists and lawmakers chiding the president for appearing to promote violence against journalists.

Last week, Trump attacked the co-hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," specifically going after Mika Brzezinski's appearance. The tweets sparked bipartisan backlash, with several lawmakers saying Trump's post was beneath the dignity of his office.

Trump often goes after the media and refers to certain networks and stories as "fake news."

Earlier Monday morning, Trump also posted a series of tweets about upcoming calls with world leaders, noting he will be speaking with Germany, France and Italy.
