“Syrian ceasefire seems to be holding. Many lives can be saved. Came out of meeting. Good!” Trump tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

The ceasefire was brokered during the Group of 20 summit in Germany this weekend, and is aimed at bringing relief to the southwestern part of the war-torn country.

It went into effect at noon on Sunday.

Russia and the United States have previously brokered ceasefires for Syria, which has been embroiled in a civil war since 2011.
