The New Yorker on Thursday released portions of the controversial interview between its Washington correspondent, Ryan Lizza, and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

Scaramucci was removed from his new post after reports of the interview, in which Scaramucci called former chief of staff Reince Priebus a “f—— paranoid schizophrenic.”

The former hedge fund manager also took aim at the White House chief strategist, saying “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock.”

Speaking with New Yorker editor David Remnick on “The New Yorker Radio Hour” podcast, Lizza said that “in 20 years of doing this I’ve never had a phone conversation like that.”

Lizza said that after he ended the call with Scaramucci late last week, “I just stood there shaking my head saying ‘that is the most unusual conversation I have ever had with a senior government official.’ ”

{mosads}Scaramucci said he was largely joking in the interview, and that while it may have been on the record, “the spirit of it was off.”

Lizza said “there were no ground rules set,” and he called Scaramucci before the interview was published.
