Former British Ambassador to the U.S. Peter Westmacott compared President Trump to an autocrat in Nazi Germany after the president’s campaign-style rally in Phoenix on Tuesday.

{mosads}Westmacott suggested Trump’s speech, in which he repeatedly attacked the media and his political opposition, was “an invitation to autocrats [without] America’s checks & balances to play the same game more dangerously. Leadership???”

The tweet on Wednesday morning came in response to a report from NBC’s Andrea Mitchell that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is “scared and worried about the President’s fitness to serve” after his remarks in Phoenix.

“Former DNI Director Clapper says he’s scared & worried about President’s fitness to serve, access to nuclear codes, after tonight’s speech,” Mitchell tweeted

Clapper, who has held several senior positions in the U.S. intelligence community, said in a CNN interview that “I don’t know when I’ve listened and watched something like this from a president that I found more disturbing.”
