President Trump praised Puerto Rico’s Gov. Ricardo Rossello on Saturday, just hours after he issued a scathing attack on San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz.

“The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, is a great guy and leader who is really working hard. Thank you Ricky!” the president tweeted.

Rossello has not been critical of the federal government’s recovery efforts and has praised the Trump administration, saying it has “responded to our petitions”.

Trump also praised U.S. Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp (I) and Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón (R.).

The tweet comes hours after Trump ripped Cruz on Twitter, saying she has shown poor leadership as Puerto Rico struggles to recover from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Maria.

Cruz had issued an emotional plea for help on Friday, and criticized the federal government’s relief efforts.

“I will do what I never thought I was going to do. I am begging, begging anyone who can hear us to save us from dying. If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency,” she said.

Puerto Ricans have struggled to receive basic necessities such as food, water and medicine as the island attempts to recover.
