White House adviser Jared Kushner praised Stephen Bannon after the former White House chief strategist said on Fox News that he would challenge almost every single sitting GOP lawmaker, Politico reported Wednesday.

Kushner reportedly texted Bannon his praise as Bannon and his friends celebrated the interview at a steakhouse across the street from Fox News’s studios in New York.

Bannon declared war against establishment Republicans during the interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, saying he would be targeting every incumbent Republican lawmaker in 2018 except Sen. The Breitbart News head was reportedly dining with conservative media personalities and other friends when he received Kushner’s message.

Some of those at the dinner told Politico that they saw the message as Kushner trying to belatedly get behind Bannon’s anti-establishment strategy, while one source said the text was just Kushner backing Bannon’s defense of Trump.

Kushner and Bannon clashed over policy goals while Bannon was in the White House, but reportedly made up after the discord.
