Referencing Hillary Clinton’s comments during the campaign that half of Trump supporters fall into a “basket of deplorables,” the Fox News host originally tweeted to his viewers:

“To all my Deplorable friends, I am extremely thankful to each and every one of you for just being who you are, Great Americans! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!”

Trump retweeted Hannity’s tweet and wrote, “A great guy (with great ratings)!”

Hannity has been one of Trump’s top media allies, and has interviewed him several times throughout the campaign and his presidency. Trump reportedly often calls Hannity after his show.

Trump also praised Hannity’s ratings in an interview last month, following Hannity’s show moving time slots to compete against progressive host Rachel Maddow on MSNBC at 9 p.m. ET. Hannity in his first weeks beat Maddow, who had been the No. 1 show in that timeslot.
