Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) is calling for an investigation into special counsel Robert Mueller's ongoing Russia probe.
"There needs to be an investigation of the investigation," Huckabee said Sunday on Fox News.
He said that if the investigation into the president and his former campaign aides stemmed from the allegations detailed in the unverified "Steele dossier," then that is "entrapment."
"Was in fact this whole thing based on a phony dossier that was financed by the Hillary Clinton

If that’s the case, if something that was totally manufactured was then presented to federal investigators, to the FBI and said, ‘You need to investigate Donald Trump

"And they use that as a way to go after, electronically surveil members of the campaign including President Donald Trump and/or his staff, and that’s how they got all this stuff? That’s entrapment," he said.
His remarks come a day after it was reported that Mueller removed Peter Strzok, a veteran FBI agent, from his team over the summer after an investigation revealed that he shared negative feelings about Trump over text messages.
Huckabee, a vocal supporter of the president, also questioned the credibility of the other investigators working on Mueller's team because of their ties to the Democratic Party.
"A whole bunch of the investigators ... are Hillary Clinton donors or supporters," he said, adding that Mueller is a "close pal" of ousted FBI Director James Comey.
Trump has also publicly attacked Mueller's integrity and investigation, which appears to be picking up steam.
Mueller on Friday brought charges against Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators about his contacts with top Kremlin officials.
Mueller and his team are broadly investigated Russian interference in the 2016 election, including whether Trump campaign aides's colluded with the Russians.
