Trump protesters chant 'lock him up' outside Capitol ahead of State of the Union

Protesters awaiting Trump’s motorcade taking him from the White House to address the joint session of Congress at the Capitol carried signs and chanted “lock him up,” according to BuzzFeed.


“Everybody hates you,” read one sign. Another read, “The State of our Union is plutocracy.”

A larger group of protesters gathered across the National Mall, chanting, “This is what democracy looks like,” according to BuzzFeed.

BuzzFeed reported that the protests, including one small confrontation between a single Trump supporter and the anti-Trump protesters, dissipated after the motorcade passed, with some participants moving to the National Press Club to protest.
