“John Brennan, no single figure in American history has done more to discredit the intelligence community than this liar,” Trump tweeted. “Not only is he a liar, he’s a liar about being a liar.”

Trump, who is spending the weekend at Camp David, has quoted Bongino’s Fox News appearances in the past.

Brennan is a frequent and harsh critic of the president, and wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post on Friday that compared Trump to “corrupt, incompetent … demagogues.”

In the piece, Brennan defended himself against critics who have said he should not be so political, saying that he would continue criticizing Trump “until integrity returns to the White House.”

“I speak out for the simple reason that Mr. Trump is failing to live up to the standards that we should all expect of a president,” Brennan wrote.
