Brennan hit back at Trump for focusing on his own supporters, not “all Americans,” as the country faces numerous challenges.

“All Americans—not just your supporters—deserve a President who is honest, ethical, selfless, & substantive,” Brennan wrote in a tweet. “Our country faces daunting domestic & international challenges.”

“If there is a scintilla of decency left in you, you would focus on your responsibilities, not on yourself,” he added.

Trump tweeted earlier Saturday that his voters were the “smartest” and “most loyal” in the history of all U.S. presidents.

"My supporters are the smartest, strongest, most hard working and most loyal that we have seen in our countries history,” Trump tweeted. “It is a beautiful thing to watch as we win elections and gather support from all over the country. As we get stronger, so does our country. Best numbers ever!"

Brennan is one of Trump’s most frequent and harshest critics. Earlier this month, he penned a Washington Post op-ed comparing Trump to “corrupt, incompetent … demagogues.”
