President TrumpDonald John TrumpTrump nominates Jeffrey Rosen to replace Rosenstein at DOJ McCabe says ‘it’s possible’ Trump is a Russian asset McCabe: Trump ‘undermining the role of law enforcement’ MORE tweeted early Saturday that the investigators working on the probe into Russia's election interference should "start also looking" at China.

“All of the fools that are so focused on looking only at Russia should start also looking in another direction, China,” Trump tweeted. “But in the end, if we are smart, tough and well prepared, we will get along with everyone!”

Trump has repeatedly lambasted the investigation into possible collusion between his 2016 campaign and Russia, calling it “rigged” and a “witch hunt.”

The president made the statement Saturday as the U.S. and China have engaged in an escalating trade war, with each country slapping tariffs on billions of dollars worth of the others’ goods.

Trump has insisted that the tariffs are necessary for national security reasons, but lawmakers from both parties have opposed the trade moves, saying they will hurt American workers.

Delegates from the U.S. and China are set to meet for lower-level trade talks later this month.
