President TrumpDonald TrumpWhat blue wave? A close look at Texas today tells of a different story Democrats go down to the wire with Manchin Trump's former bodyguard investigated in NY prosectors' probe: report MORE said Sunday that he is "praying for recovery and healing" after a tsunami struck Indonesia late Saturday, killing at least 222 people.

"Unthinkable devastation from the tsunami disaster in Indonesia," Trump wrote on Twitter. "More than two hundred dead and nearly a thousand injured or unaccounted for. We are praying for recovery and healing. America is with you!"

In addition to the 222 people who were killed, another 843 people were injured and 28 remain unaccounted for, according to CNN.

The State Department said it is not "currently not aware of any U.S. citizens directly affected, but stand ready to assist as needed."

The tsunami struck Indonesia's Sunda Strait without warning on Saturday, according to media reports.

It was the second tsunami to strike Indonesia this year after another hit the country in September and killed more than 2,500 people.

Pope Francis on Sunday also offered prayers for victims of the tsunami.

"I am spiritually close to the displaced and to all the people affected, imploring God for relief in their suffering. My appeal is that these brothers and sisters may not lack our solidarity and the support of the international community," he said at a service, according to CNN.
