Scaramucci says Trump lies 'because he thinks it's fun'

“He does it because he thinks it’s fun and he also does it because he likes the fact that you guys are talking about it," the former White House official said in an appearance on CNN.


"There’s a very large group of people inside of our population that when he does it and the media talks about it, they laugh,” he added. 

He said he has told the president that he doesn’t need to lie.

“By and large, he’s done a great job. Why do you have to tell lies?” 


Trump's opponents have regularly criticized him for false statements. 

Scaramucci had a brief and tumultuous tenure in the White House.
