Also on Thursday, reports indicated Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would launch massive raids on Sunday, targeting immigrants without legal status for deportation in an operation Trump planned but then delayed weeks ago. The action was set up to take place in 10 major cities and target up to 2,000 immigrants.

Both moves have come under intense scrutiny from Democrats and other critics, who say the census question could lead to minorities and immigrant communities being undercounted, affecting decisions as crucial as the distribution of federal funds and the apportionment of congressional districts.

The ICE raids mark the latest of Trump’s hard-line immigration policies meant to deter migrants from attempting to come to the U.S.
