The seemingly random retweet stood out on a busy morning on Twitter for the president, who is set to host a rally in New Hampshire on Thursday night.

Other than the elephant tweet, Trump's messages were more typical in focusing on race and divisive political topics. He also mostly retweeted messages from conservative allies.

The president had retweeted former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly saying that “branding the President a white supremacy adherent” is a “cheap piece of political propaganda.”

After that and just before the elephant video, Trump had retweeted Fox News host Laura IngrahamLaura Anne IngrahamEx-Pence aide: Trump spent 45 minutes of task force meeting 'going off on Tucker Carlson' instead of talking coronavirus Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs to be deposed in Seth Rich lawsuit: report NYC living statue shows Trump desecrating graves of war dead, COVID-19 victims MORE's tweet saying there was no evidence of an epidemic of mass shootings.

A little more than a week ago, more than 30 people were killed in two mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.

Immediately after the elephant tweet, Trump retweeted Diamond and Silk, the conservative African American women and YouTube personalities, calling them "two great and loyal friends."

Lewandowski is expected to be in New Hampshire with Trump and may soon announce a Republican bid for the Senate.

Trump later in the morning tweeted about the mass shootings the country has faced recently. He called for law enforcement to get “much tougher on street crime” after a gunman in Philadelphia shot and wounded six local police officers.

“The Philadelphia shooter should never have been allowed to be on the streets. He had a long and very dangerous criminal record. Looked like he was having a good time after his capture, and after wounding so many police. Long sentence — must get much tougher on street crime!” he said.
