Asked what he got his wife for the holiday, the president said, “I got her a beautiful card ... a lot of love. We love our family, and we love each other. We’ve had a great relationship, hopefully like you do with your spouses.”

"I’m still working on a Christmas present," he added. "There’s a little time left. Not much, but there’s a little time left."

Trump on Tuesday had a video teleconference with U.S. military members around the world while he was at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla.

He also thanked the troops for their service and wished them a good holiday.

“I want to wish you an amazing Christmas and a happy new year,” he said. "You are tremendous warriors and we appreciate it so much.”
