“We then went through the Mueller report, and they should have come back one day later. They didn't," he added. "They came back two years later after lives were ruined, after people went bankrupt, after people lost all their money."

Trump went on to say he faced a “rough campaign” in 2016 and then was subjected to “tremendous corruption” after winning the election.

The White House has framed impeachment as a partisan effort to remove Trump from office. Trump has often grouped impeachment in with the Russia investigation and subsequent Mueller report, which he has characterized as efforts by Democrats to end his presidency.

Mueller obtained guilty pleas during the course of his 22-month investigation, including from key figures such as former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and former Trump campaign officials Richard Gates and Paul Manafort.

While Trump has previously called the Democrats’ Russia investigation and impeachment efforts “bullshit,” he has made the remark at rallies, not at the White House.
