“On Thursday, July 8, First Lady Jill Biden will attend the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee in the Orlando, Florida area. Immediately before the Bee's primetime Finals, Dr. Biden will meet with the spellers and their families, and will congratulate them on this tremendous academic achievement,” the White House said in a statement Tuesday. 

The first lady previously attended the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

The annual spelling bee, which has been running since 1925, will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Fla. 

The live telecast of the final round will air on ESPN’s sister channel ESPN2 on July 8.
