Democrats on Capitol Hill rushed to endorse Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonClose the avenues of foreign meddling Pelosi planned on retiring until Trump won election: report Pence autobiography coming from Simon & Schuster MORE for president, while Republicans were split among a crowded 2016 primary field.

ADVERTISEMENT
Presidential endorsements are important in many ways. They give White House hopefuls grassroots support and political momentum. Support from lawmakers in the early-voting states is especially crucial.

The Hill will update this list of publicly committed backers throughout the 2016 race for the White House.
