Biden had recorded a robocall for Duggan earlier this month on the eve of his mayoral primary. Duggan will face off against Michigan State Sen. Coleman Young Jr. (D) in his fight for reelection.

Duggan said earlier in the podcast recording that Biden is “completely loved” in Detroit.

“You know, I spent time with him. I know, after he lost his son and if it had been at a different point, he would be president now,” Duggan said.

Biden in his upcoming book focuses on his son Beau’s death and his decision not to enter the race for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
