Rep. Scott DesJarlais won the Republican primary in Tennessee's 4th District on Thursday, leaving him well placed to win a sixth term in the deep red district.
The incumbent led with 75 percent of the votes with 13 percent of precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press.
DesJarlais was previously a physician and was first elected to Congress in 2010 as part of the Tea Party movement. He will face off against Democrat Christopher Hale in the general election.
