Members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus voted Monday night to elect Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) as its next chairman.

Meadows will take the leadership post from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

In a statement Monday night, Meadows said he is “honored and humbled” to be picked for the role.

“The voters of this country sent an abundantly clear message on November 8th that they feel as though Washington does not represent them. Now, it’s time for Washington to do what it has failed to do for decades — listen.
